16:05 WINTERLUDE
16:40 CABUCHON (NB)
17:10 SCOTTISH LAKE (NAP) & DIMITAR
17:40 FLAMBOROUGH BREEZE

I could be barking up the wrong tree here but I cannot understand the way this race has been priced up on the overnight odds. PENNY'S BOY finished in 6th at Chester from a hopeless draw in front of re apposing La Tinta Bay. Penny's Boy is 25/1 where as La Tinta Bay is 8/1. Penny's Boy, although not perfectly drawn here today can be taken at much bigger odds each way to confirm the placings with that rival. He can be forgiven his last 2 starts on account of 7f trip on soft ground at Newbury (Class 3) and very wide draw at Chester (Class 2) (it is crucial to be in low numbers at that track). He has only had 5 starts this year and back over this 6f trip and down to Class 4 company if he takes to the surface can outrun his price tag. Cathy Gannon is also booked and she is no mug round this course.

BLACK SCHNAPPS is the only one with form you can take seriously having finished a good 2nd on his debut traveling through the race nicely. This is bound to be a short price favorite and I don't see any need to get involved in this race. I would also issue a word of caution with the yard he hails from. It is very difficult to work out what is going on with this yards horses and they often know what they have got and put their money where their mouth is. This horse went off 25/1 on debut seemingly un fancied.

Tricky Maiden of which I have no strong views.
15:35 Lingfield
Tricky Claimer of which I have no strong views.

Very competitive looking Handicap. I like the claims of WINTERLUDE here for Godolphin. He was supported into joint 2nd fav when last seen at York 54 days ago but finished last of 14, 74 lengths off the leader. That run was too bad to be true and if he can reproduce his effort the time before where he ground it out staying on one pace looking like he will appreciate this extra 2f he gets today.

I am surprised to see CABUCHON available to back at 11/2 today. I was impressed with his Bath win last time out where he extended nicely over 13f. He has to stay an extra 3 furlongs today but visually he looks like that will not be any problem and could potentially bring about further improvement. Pat Evans is a prolific trainer this time of the year and especially at this track. I will be surprised if we don't get a big run from Cabuchon today.

There are 2 I am interested in here. DIMITAR and SCOTTISH LAKE. Dimitar ran a really nice race to belatedly take his first race on UK soil or Pollytrack as the case is. This race is slightly more competitive but he wont it well and on his old Irish form at Dundalk will see him go close here. The other I am interested in is Scottish Lake. He finished a close 3rd at Kempton returning from a 174 break off a mark of 70. His last win came off a mark of 75 in October 2012 at CD. He has ran well off a break before and nearly always follows up with another big effort at the prices 9/1 I would make this a decent each way bet with a small win only saver on Dimitar.

Kylachi Star is a slightly unusual favorite given he has not won for 22 starts. His last win cam in May 2011, there were some posotive signs on his last occasion and was very well backed the time before but I cant take this at such a short price for a horse that has got used to being a professional loser. I want to stick with FLAMBOROUGH BREEZE today. Was available to back last night at 12/1 and has been supported into 7/1 this morning. This horse is well handicapped on some of his old form and comes here fresh after a short break. He needs a decent pace to aim at and should get that today with a few that like to tug them along.
